The cage is not a place of confinement for your Labrador, she will use it as her den when she wants some privacy or ‘me time’.
In the wild dogs will choose a hole, small cave or space between rocks as a den, your dog still has a need for a personal partially hidden space, a need an open bed does not fulfil.
For your female Labrador, the 42-inch size is the smallest we recommend, she’s going to be a big dog so needs room to lie down.
The cage is best placed in a corner, partially covered with one door removed for ease of access.
Labradors like to chew so opt for this one with a metal tray.
You’re going to be taking the door off as quickly as possible, this one has two removable doors, you can take off the one which gives her the easiest access.
See our page on Puppy Training for the correct use of cages.
